Female founders remain resilient

Despite turbulent market volatility and geopolitical tensions, female founders are going strong.

During the first half of 2022, US startups with at least one female founder raised $20.8 billion in venture funding. This is a huge increase compared to the roughly $10 billion that was raised by the same category in the second half of 2020. And we see a similar result with companies with solely female founders: $2.75 billion in the first half of 2022, versus just $1.63 billion in the second half of 2020. It is also true that late VC deal value accounts for a much greater portion of the increase in deal value than early VC deal value does.

Some notable deals in 2022 include Alladept Immunotherapeutics and Hello Heart, both based in Menlo Park, and Remote, based in San Francisco.
